A chance event to view at Longshan Temple last September.
Photograph your hotel, a street sign or in this case the MRT station. Something that can be shown to a taxi driver. An easy way to find your way home, thanks to digital cameras.
Also carry the hotel name card (business card) and show this to a taxi driver. No need to try and speak Mandarin – and with our foreign accents it’s a silly proposition anyway.
Kaohsiung is the 2nd largest city, located in the south, popular today with Mainland China tourists. (above)
The nearest MRT station to the above night market is on the Orange line - called O4
In the video is the ferry to Cijin Island, the closest MRT to Kushan Ferry is also on the orange line, O1 stop (the first).
The High Speed Rail to Taipei departs from Zuoying, the MRT station there is on the red line or R16 (which runs north-south).
This was a few years ago - the first Chinese opera I saw being performed, no other foreigners in attendance either. Bells, cymbals and drums and high pitched talking and shouts as the young performers tell a story from ancient times. Looking back at these pictures they almost look like a photo shopped collage of images. Always lots to see in Taiwan. It makes Australia seem like a real frontier country.
