The first time I heard a Teresa Teng song was in a Chinese restaurant in Australia.
I inquired who the singer was and remembered the name Teresa Tang. This was long before I knew anything about Taiwan and how she was the darling singer born on the island to mainlander parents in 1953, who was later to sell 100 million records.
It would have been Teresa Teng’s birthday this week on January 29th.
We visited the location of her Taipei home in Luzhou City. It is now a shop, the house is gone but almost next door is a now famous cake shop where Teresa Teng was a customer and is remembered.
The pictures should be self explanatory.
One cake box is lavish in it’s Japanese-styled artwork and gold lettering.

The street view is a church directly opposite her former house.
My personal favorite song is Tian Mi Mi – which is often found on You Tube.
Footnote: There is another version of Tian Mi Mi featured in the closing credits for Year of the Dragon. It’s also worth checking. Lucia Hwong featuring Myra Chen.
