I spent a weekend at a conference across the road from this building. It was an important event to seek better or perhaps broader recognition for a local aboriginal peoples.
Being the only foreigner present and with little English spoken I was a bit lost. I hope it was a positive event.
Someone took my picture with the Tainan mayor nearby and it was published in a newspaper. Such is the level of attention we foreigners are often shown. It makes me feel indebted.
Yet when I speak about Taiwan to friends in Australia they just have not got a clue – some probably get confused with Thailand.
